Is working less and making more on your to do list for 2023?
During a meeting with my brilliant mastermind yesterday, we answered the question: What will you be working on for the rest of 2022 to set yourself up for success in 2023?
For most of us, the answer was a variation of the tried and true “work smarter, not harder.” Of course, the business term for working smarter, not harder is “scaling.”
Is scaling on your to do list for 2023?
Scaling is uniquely challenging for experts. There is only so much you can bill for your time. There is only so much time in a day. And even if you have the capacity to work more (👎🏽) that would be working harder, not smarter.
It is simply not possible to scale until we decouple our income from our time. Let’s fix that.
Leveraged Revenue
Leverage means the use of a lever to multiply the impact of our efforts.
Intellectual property is the ultimate lever.
Instead of unleveraged time-based revenue, we scale in our services business by using IP as a lever. We put in the effort at the front end by converting our expertise into IP and reap continuing benefits over time in the form of leveraged IP-based revenue that requires less additional effort. AKA “working less and making more.”
